Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

There are high chairs in this area, so yes, this is family friendly. You order from a kiosk and the people who put up the food do not speak to you so I cannot rate them on customer service because there was none. They didn’t even call my name when my order was put on the counter. I got the crème brûlée first thing I have to say is that the toast was very buttery tasting. Was not crunchy crispy, but it was good to me. The whole thing, the sprinkled sugar, and whatever that tan brown stuff was on top to me was not very good.. I did get an Ube milk drink it was very very good. That was very good. I would have to order another one to take home with me. From what I’ve had so far, I’ve had the mochi doughnut, the crème brûlée and three different drinks. I am not an expert, but their drinks are phenomenal. Everything else to me not so much.

Pretty solid dessert! I would go back to try more of the Japanese sandwiches. The Bao buns were good, I just liked the sandwiches better. Creme brulee sandwich was great! Oreo Bao was not bad at all

5pm the mochi donuts were cold and hard. Usually warm and soft at other places. Boba milk was OK. The crème brûlée topping is crazy sweet. The cheesecake baos were the best but not worth $10. You order on kiosk and it auto fills a tip despite no interaction. Sorry to be so negative , we threw most of it away unfortunately
I LOVE LUMPIA 6 months ago
I’m new to Chicago and work nearby. Been searching around for a good boba spot around the area and found this spot earlier today for lunch. Love that ube is becoming a thing and they had a good selection of drinks and dessert made with it. It paired well with my LUMPIA lol. Anyways, i don’t normally leave reviews, but this place deserved it for sure. The female that was working on the counter this afternoon was all by herself and I don’t know how she did it, but kudos to her. She made me a good drink. I’ll definitely be coming back and try their other selections for sure.
